The Bike Vegas Summer MTB Cup are events designed by mountain bikers for ALL mountain bike owners. These classic old school style MTB races - over one lap of challenging terrain - will incorporate the world renowned Whakarewarewa trail network. All courses will take riders into the trail network and beyond, while out on the course you will experience varied amounts of uphills and downhills - all through a mixture of forest roads and single track.
For those who take the challenge of the 45-km courses you will see great views of lakes and landscapes. Well, those who can get them in focus will!!
The 25-km courses are designed for recreational riders who want to get out and explore new trails.
If you haven't been on a big adventures for some time, we recommend you carry basic riding gear: warm clothes, food, plenty of water, tools, tubes, patches and pump. Maybe even a camera.
Challenge yourself through some the best single-track trails in the world.
PRIZE GIVING
The Bike Vegas Summer Cup has been designed to give back to the riders. With the help of the sponsors we are able to offer great prize money!
Prize money will be paid to Long Course Riders only - it will be paid to the first ten male and females riders to cross the line. This will be regardless of the category they are racing in.
We will be paying down to 10th for males and down to 5th for females.
So that is a total potential prize pool of over $2,000 per race just for the long course. Plus the King and Queen of the Long Course Series will each receive $500 cash as well. And you guys doing the short course will be rewarded in spot prizes of a similar value for the first 5 men and women across the line.
Short course riders will be rewarded with spot prizes.
THE PLACE
Each of the BIKE VEGAS SUMMER CUPS will start and finish at the Mountainbike Carpark off Waipa Mill Road. Signposted off SH5 a few kms south of town. It is easy riding distance from town, especially if you are staying at the very cool Redwood Thermal Holiday Park at the south end of Old Taupo Road
As well as registration, there will also be great food and coffee plus a variety of trade stands showing off the latest and greatest MTB gear and allowing you to stock up with the last minute supplies for the journey ahead.
EVENT SCHEDULE
The summer cup event schedule will be the same for ALL three events, the times mean you will have time do other activities around Rotorua once you finish.
SATURDAY REGISTRATION
Registration will be held on the Saturday before each race at Bikevegas located on Fenton Street between 1:30pm and 5pm. So come in and get yourself sorted the day before and have a look at the great range of products on display in store.
REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OPEN BETWEEN 8:00AM AND 9:30 AM
LONG COURSE START 10.00 AM
SHORT COURSE START 10.30 AM
There will be a race briefing 15 minutes before each race.
