WHAT TO EXPECT...

It was a challenging race, a lot of fun and a great after match party...
• EVENT TIMETABLE
FRIDAY APRIL 24

6-9PM Registration, upstairs at the Pig.
SATURDAY APRIL 25 - RACE DAY
5.45AM - Meet outside the Pig for the Dawn Ride to Anzac Day service at Ohinemutu. Yes, it's early but this is a very special celebration and remembrance of Kiwi and Aussie armed forces.
10.00AM: Event Village opens outside the Pig on Tutanekai St., with registration in the pub.
Please note: Saturday is Anzac Day and that is important. The Pig will be open for registration ONLY. We're not particularly serious about much but we are about this - please show due respect.
11.30AM-ISH: Event briefing - don't miss it. DJ Deano W is on the mike.
MIDDAY-ISH: Departure - group ride to bottom of Nursery Road (just like last year).
Regroup and ride to Race Event Village - Location TBC sometime, you know...There will be top food by Tasty Bits and great coffee by Edd from Flying Espresso...
01.30PM-ISH: Race briefing.
2.00PM: Race start. If you're at the sharp end, expect to be finished by 4.00PM. If you're there for the fun of it - and let's face it, that's most of you - you'll be sweet in daylight.
If you're a real slow-mo, then we won't lap you out. But if you want to finish, then bring lights, a torch and some friends.
If you take too long we'll already be at the Pig, having another ale - but remember, drink responsibly.
6PM Party at the Pig! Prize-giving will be sometime after 7PM - but not too late. Then Ultra Mega Ok will be back...
SUNDAY APRIL 26
9-11AM: The Big Kiwi Breakfast - in 2008 a record amount of food was consumed - it's a good chance for Weekenders and Party Animals to chill out, refuel and recover - at the Pig.

LOCATION

The Pig & Whistle New Zealand Singlespeed Championships will be run in one of this country's truly great mountain biking venues, the Whakarewarewa Forest just south of the city and only minutes from the CBD.
Home to 100 kilometres of trails - a wonderful mix of forest roads and single track that rolls and weaves through a unique mix of Californian Redwoods, Australian Eucalyptus, Pine and native New Zealand ferns - and host to a whole range of events over the years.
The Whakarewarewa trails have attained mythic status in New Zealand and internationally.
The course for the Singlespeed Champs will be on some of these trails and will be a good mix of fast and flowing and tight, twisty and technical - ideal to test the best and let everyone else have some fun.
Course maps will be available on April 26.
